Platform Decking for Installers

Platform Decking is a method of providing safe access at height during traditional and timber frame Housebuild construction. It sits close to the top of the Work at Height Hierarchy because a Platform Decking System prevents the worker from falling. FASET have authored an Installers course which concludes in a Blue CSCS card to evidence competence..

At the end of the course, candidates will:
Understand the way in which a Platform Decking system works
Know how the components are used to make the system
Be able to plan the installation
Be able identify faults with components and completed system
Carry out handover, pre-use inspections, 7 day inspections and adverse issue inspections

Candidates are tested on their knowledge at the end of the course. Experienced candidates may be assessed on their practical skills on the day (GSA4). Less experienced candidates will be assessed at a later date, but they must have achieved at least 100 hours supervised experienced. Successful assessment will allow the candidate to apply for a 5 year blue CSCS card.
